The Lift | the installation by Fabio Giampietro

MEET presents The Lift, the site-specific immersive work by Fabio Giampietro, produced in collaboration with Valuart.

Visitors are accompanied through the exhibition by the voice of a mysterious guide who invites them to gather in the center of the room and take a broader view of the work. Suddenly, the walls of the gallery fall down like papers, revealing a single circular panorama extracted from the paintings, which have also collapsed along with the walls.

It is here that the journey begins, it plays on the altered perception of space and movement: the panorama begins to move, transforming the room into an enormous glass lift that ascends in the middle of a metropolis, accelerating until it catapults out of the skyscraper itself and floats in space.

The journey is not over. After a moment’s pause, the lift will plummet rapidly downwards, accompanied by a great noise; the dust raised by the crash will clear, revealing an unexpected conclusion.

Fabio Giampietro has been active in the art scene for more than 20 years. He is one of the pioneers of the NFT revolution and one of the main exponents of the Italian and international digital art scene. His artistic work explores the creative possibilities that emerge from the intersection of art and technology, a theme that is a key focus of MEET’s programming.
