An evening with Koert van Mensvoort: video and pictures
Last 5 April, Milan’s Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia hosted the second Meet the Media Guru event of 2017 with Koert van Mensvoort. A chance to reflect on the relationship between man, technology and nature, which caught the interest of many: the event was attended by over 350 people in the room and over 4,000 connected in streaming on Facebook from everywhere in the world.
During an enticing and thought-provoking lecture, van Mensvoort described the ideas at the base of the Next Nature Network which he directs. The more and more pivotal role of technology in our lives should lead us to reflecting about what we mean by nature: if technology is transparent and entirely organic to existence, cannot in itself be defined as nature?
Koert van Mensvoort offers a synthesis between biosphere and technosphere through a careful selection of innovation being instrumental to the balance of our entire ecosystem. In his view, it is only by “expanding” the current concept of humanity that we can envisage a future in which technology can turn into a tool safeguarding nature and nature can be strengthened through technology.
Some pictures from the event are available in the gallery. The full album is available here:
Meet the Media Guru is organised in partnership with Fastweb, Artemide, Fondazione Fiera Milano, under the patronage of Regione Lombardia and Fondazione Cariplo and in collaboration with Institute without Boundaries | George Brown College – Toronto.
