For an inclusive Europe: The Milan Ideathon

Making Europe a better place by “prototyping” new ideas, solutions and innovative policies on inclusion, equality and diversity. This is the goal of the AugE project.

Under 30 y/o, from Milan, Berlin, Riga and Thessaloniki met  On Tuesday, November 10th (10 am – 5 pm) during the Ideathon Milan in a virtual form.

A team of facilitators managed the work and the co-creation process focused on four macro-categories:

  • Inclusive work and opportunities
To promote inclusion in the educational system and in the work system, ensuring equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, body image, ability/disability, economic and social background
  • Social media
To make people aware of the risks of misinformation and misinformation as a means of exclusion. Cyberbullying, false news, sexting: how can we build more inclusive media and social media?
  • Body shaming
To overcome stereotypes and questioning traditional beauty models. How can we teach people to embrace what seems to be different? How can we make young people more confident?
  • Inclusive spaces
To create inclusion in urban spaces. How to redesign spaces to allow dialogue and discussion, creating bridges between city center and suburbs? How to prevent and eradicate the culture of violence against what is different?

For a general overview of the Ideathon themes, we have selected a lot of material that may be useful to you.

The Ideathon involved 50 young people in-site and 90 connected from Germany, Latvia and Greece, to share and produce ideas, projects and policies aimed at making cities more inclusive. We worked on the diversity from different perspectives starting from the assumption: what is “normal”? and who decides what’s normal?

Through brainstorming sessions, key-note speeches, group works, co-creation moments, social media casting, the MEET’s facilitators – together with the facilitators of the other countries – guided and supported all participants in the exciting exploration of new perspectives, beyond stereotypes and bias.
