Thijs Biersteker | Meet the Media Guru

Thijs Biersteker is a Dutch eco-artist. With the support of the Embassy of the Netherlands and the Consulate General in Milan, he holds a Meet the Media Guru lecture as part of the program promoted by the Dutch Pavilion for Broken Nature.

Biersteker has just presented Symbiosia at the Fondation Cartier in Paris, an installation dedicated to climate change, designed with the plant neurobiologist Stefano Mancuso.
Two trees – a horse chestnut and a Turkey oak – are tracked in real time thanks to sensors that detect their reaction to noise and air pollution, as well as the continuous communication between roots and branches.

At his Meet the Media Guru’s lecture Biersteker focuses on how art, science and technology can work together to raise awareness of key issues of our time, without ever losing sight of human empathy. The event takes place on July 29th at 6,30pm at La Triennale di Milano (Viale Alemagna 6 – Milan).
